Get Qualified

Getting a power mobility device through insurance involves a few important steps to ensure coverage and proper fit. At Gerould’s, we’re here to guide you through the process—from your initial doctor’s visit to home evaluation and insurance approval. While it can take 8–10 weeks to complete, our team is ready to help every step of the way.

  1. Doctor Visit
Schedule an appointment to discuss your mobility needs and why a walker or manual wheelchair isn’t suitable

  2. Send Documentation
Have your doctor send an order and office note to Gerould’s.

  3. Mobility Evaluation
If requesting a power wheelchair, complete a PT/OT mobility evaluation as required by insurance.

  4. Home Evaluation
Gerould’s staff will assess your home to ensure the device fits and meets insurance criteria (coverage is for in-home use only).

  5. Doctor Sign-Off
Your doctor must review and sign the mobility evaluation, then send a new order to Gerould’s.

  6. Insurance Submission
Once all documents are received, Gerould’s will submit them to your insurance for approval.

The process may take 8–10 weeks.
